My Blog About Feet! featuring ROCKTAPE!

Hi guys!

It’s Dr. Lucy here! Ready for my blog post all about feet?

Don’t worry, I won’t just talk about feet! Podiatrists do so much more than cut toenails and prescribe orthotics. In fact, you’d be surprised how many different conditions podiatrists treat! If it involves the lower limb – muscles, nerves, arteries, bones, ligaments, skin, nails, joints or systemic diseases – we treat it!

So why did I decided to write a blog? Whenever I told someone I was a podiatrist – besides hearing “Is that kids?” – no one really knew what I did. When I explained some of the common patient complaints, people were surprised that we did so much! This blog is my way of letting everyone know that no, I don’t have a foot fetish, and more yes I treat that!!

Without further ado, let me get to my first ever blog post on the topic of a treatment I am very passionate about – and if you’ve even seen me in my clinic you will know already – ROCKTAPE!!!

Rocktape is a brand of kinesiology tape. You know, that weird coloured tape you seen on athletes on their shoulder, or along their hamstring? That’s the stuff! I love it! It’s water resistant, hypoallergenic, lasts 4-5 days and I can use it to treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions. So many different applications. From ankle instability, heel pain, calf strains, shin splints, biomechanical correction and bruising! You name it, I can probably treat it with tape (excluding fractures of course, but I can still treat those too!)

So why do I use Rocktape and not other brands?
  • Specifically designed for the demands of an athlete
  • Longer lasting adhesive which even I’m not allergic to!
  • Easy to apply
  • Comes in cool colours (this is clearly the most important)
Why is Rocktape better than standard rigid tape?
  • Easier to apply
  • Improves blood supply to area of application
  • Is water resistant and gives more than 24 hours of treatment
  • Can be used for muscle strains, tears and weakness and joint issues
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Did I mention it looks cool?

This is all good & well, but how does Rocktape even work? This is a lot easier to explain through a video. They say a picture is worth a thousand words:

The great thing about Rocktape is that there is so many different applications – to improve function, performance and strength as well as reduce pain!
So if you have a lower limb muscle strain, sprain, tear or weakness, come and see me – Dr. Lucy Gillivour at The Foot and Ankle Clinic in Traralgon for a biomechanical assessment and advice on how to improve your athletic performance.

Start your day on the right foot and I’ll see you next time!
